What Are CNC Turning and Milling Parts?
CNC Turning and Milling Parts are precision components produced on a turn-mill compound machining center — a single machine that integrates a CNC lathe with live milling spindles, C-axis and Y-axis control. In one clamping, the machine executes turning, milling, drilling, tapping, grooving, and threading together.
Traditional: CNC Lathe → Transfer → Machining Center
- Part turned on lathe → unclamped → moved → re-fixtured on separate milling center
- Each re-clamping introduces positioning error — concentricity and true position degrade
- Longer lead time, higher WIP, more operator touches, higher cost per part
Turn-Mill Compound: 1 Machine · 1 Setup
- Turning + milling + drilling + threading all in one clamping, one continuous cycle
- Single datum maintained across all features — concentricity held to ±0.005mm
- Complex multi-feature parts finished faster, cheaper, and more accurately
Core-Walking (Swiss-type)
Sliding headstock. Workpiece feeds through guide bushing. Best for slender, small-diameter parts (Ø0.5–25mm) with long L/D ratios.
Knife-Walking (Fixed headstock)
Fixed headstock with live tooling turret. Best for larger-diameter, shorter parts (Ø5–150mm) with off-axis milled features and complex geometry.

Why Turn-Mill Compound Machining?
For parts combining cylindrical turned features with off-axis milled or drilled features, turn-mill compound machining is the technically and economically superior choice.
Single-Clamping Accuracy
All features share one datum. No repositioning means no accumulated error. Our CITIZEN machines hold ±0.005mm concentricity across all compound features in one setup.
Shorter Cycle Time
Eliminating inter-machine transfer, re-fixturing, and queuing between departments cuts total cycle time significantly. Lower per-piece cost at medium-to-high volumes.
Slender & Complex Parts
Swiss-type sliding headstock design supports long, slender parts (high L/D ratio) that would deflect or chatter on conventional lathes.
Full Traceability
Every batch ships with material certificates, CMM dimensional reports, and process records — fully compliant with IATF 16949, AS9100D, and ISO 10012.
Broad Diameter Range
From ultra-fine Ø0.5mm micro-parts (CITIZEN A16) to larger Ø150mm flanged components (BNC40 / YM knife-walking), our fleet covers the complete spectrum.
Surface Finish In-House
Post-machining honing, electrolytic polishing (EP), and passivation are performed in-house — including specialized electropolishing lines for semiconductor-grade requirements.
