What Is Aerospace Fastener
Manufacturing?
Aerospace fastener manufacturing is the precision production of threaded and non-threaded joining hardware used in airframes, engines, interiors, landing gear, rotorcraft and space structures.
Unlike commercial fasteners, aerospace parts are judged by the full evidence package: alloy traceability, AMS material compliance, thread and shank accuracy, heat treatment records, NDT results, coating certificates and first article inspection.
-
Traceability from mill to shipment Heat number, mill test report, internal lot number, process records and final inspection results are linked for aerospace audit requirements.
-
Special process documentation Heat treatment, FPI, MPI, passivation, cadmium, aluminum coating and dry film lubricant can be supplied through accredited process routes.
-
NAS / MS / BAC / custom drawings Production can follow standard aerospace fastener families or customer drawings for proprietary head styles, grip lengths and step-shank geometries.
-
Custom fastener DFM support Send drawings, samples or referenced standards for material review, manufacturability feedback and production quote within 24 hours.
Why Swiss CNC for
Aerospace Fasteners?
Swiss CNC machining is useful for aerospace fasteners because many parts combine long shanks, tight diameters, precision threads and small head features. Guide-bushing support helps control deflection and repeatability across production lots.
Shank Diameter Control
Shank diameter tolerance to ±0.005mm supports interference-fit, shear-load and bearing-surface requirements in structural aerospace joints.
Precision Thread Geometry
UNJ, MJ and class 3A/3B thread requirements can be supported with controlled pitch diameter, thread profile verification and gauge inspection.
Head-to-Shank Runout
Concentric head machining helps reduce asymmetric loading and supports fatigue-sensitive fasteners used in engine mounts, rotating assemblies and primary structures.
Controlled Surface Finish
Shank finish to Ra 0.4µm supports fatigue performance, coating adhesion and consistent fit in close-tolerance holes.
Step-Shank and Multi-Feature Parts
Swiss CNC and mill-turn machining can combine threads, shoulders, drilled heads, wrenching features and multi-diameter shanks with fewer secondary setups.
Cost-Effective Aerospace Supply
China manufacturing economics help reduce unit cost while keeping the required AS9100D documentation, process records and inspection evidence in place.

Aerospace Fastener Manufacturing FAQ
Short answers to the questions buyers usually ask before sending aerospace fastener drawings or qualification requirements.
Material traceability is usually the first requirement. Each lot should connect the finished fastener back to the mill heat number, material certificate, process route and inspection records.
We manufacture bolts, screws, studs, nuts, pins, blind fasteners, lockbolts, high-shear fasteners and custom drawing-controlled fasteners for aerospace applications.
Common materials include A286, Inconel 718, Ti-6Al-4V, 17-4PH, 300-series stainless, alloy steel, 7075-T6, 2024-T4 and Waspaloy. Other alloys can be reviewed from the drawing or specification.
NAS fasteners are National Aerospace Standard parts commonly used across commercial aviation. MS fasteners are Military Standard parts used heavily in defense programs. OEM standards such as BAC or Airbus drawings may override both.
Thread quality is controlled with proper forming or machining route, pitch diameter inspection, optical thread profile verification and GO/NO-GO gauges for the required fit class.
Simple prototype quantities from available material may take 10-18 business days depending on heat treatment, coating and inspection needs. Custom tooling, specialty alloys or full qualification packages can extend the schedule.
Yes. We review the existing drawing, referenced standard, material specification, coating requirement and documentation package, then quote an equivalent manufacturing route with transparent inspection and release records.
