Custom Stainless Steel
Bushing Solutions
A custom stainless steel bushing is a machined sleeve, insert, spacer, reducer, bearing surface, or threaded interface built around a specific assembly. It can combine internal or external threads with a bore, shoulder, flange, groove, cross hole, slot, or sealing feature.
Good performance depends on the complete design: grade, thread fit, wall thickness, bore finish, concentricity, galling risk, surface treatment, and host-hole fit. CNCPioneer confirms the material, process, inspection scope, and packaging before production.

Why CNCPioneer for
Stainless Steel Bushings?
One production partner for stainless grades, thread control, anti-galling DFM, finishing, inspection, and OEM documentation. Built for demanding medical, food, fluid, semiconductor, automotive, aerospace, and industrial programs.
Full Alloy Selection
Choose 303 for machinability, 304/304L for general use, 316/316L for chloride or chemical exposure, PH grades for strength, duplex for demanding environments, or a customer-specified alloy. XRF and certificate review can verify each lot.
100% Thread Gauge Control
OD and length alone do not guarantee assembly. We check pitch diameter, thread form, burrs, and finish buildup with calibrated plug or ring gauges. Capability can reach ±0.005mm, with thread class and mating fit reviewed for metric, UNC/UNF, BSP, NPT, and custom threads.
Anti-Galling Thread DFM
We review mating alloy, thread fit, engagement, lead-in chamfer, surface finish, speed, torque, and lubrication before machining. The DFM can recommend a dissimilar mating alloy, controlled clearance, passivation, or dry-film lubricant for repeated assembly.
Single-Setup Geometry Control
Guide-bushing Swiss CNC reduces deflection on miniature parts. MAZAK mill-turn supports larger flanged, stepped, blind-bore, slotted, and cross-drilled designs. Targets can include ±0.010mm bore-to-OD concentricity, ±0.010mm OD, and 0.010mm/25mm flange perpendicularity.
Finishing and Clean Assembly Support
Passivation, electropolishing, bead blasting, deburring, laser marking, ultrasonic cleaning, and clean packaging are available. We confirm Ra, edge condition, masking, post-finish thread fit, and documentation before production.
OEM Documentation and Traceability
Material certificates, XRF, dimensional and thread-gauge records, finish certificates, RoHS/REACH, C of C, PPAP Level 3, AS9102 FAIR, and lot traceability are available. Packaging can follow your receiving process.

Materials
Materials for Stainless
Steel Bushings
Select the grade by environment, strength, thread wear, finish, temperature, compliance, availability, and volume. Supported options range from free-machining 303 to corrosion-resistant 316L, PH grades, duplex, and customer-specified alloys.
304 / 304L Stainless Steel
304 and 304L balance corrosion resistance, strength, finish, and cost for equipment, enclosures, food machinery, fixtures, and general fluid applications. Available with internal or external threads, flanges, sleeves, spacers, and passivation.
316 / 316L Stainless Steel
316 and 316L are selected for higher chloride, chemical, marine, pharmaceutical, or washdown exposure. 316L is often preferred for cleanable assemblies and corrosion-sensitive fluid paths. We review environment, temperature, finish, treatment, and mating material before machining.
303 Stainless Steel
303 supports efficient machining and clean chip control for turned sleeves, spacers, threaded standoffs, instruments, and general hardware with moderate corrosion exposure. We confirm suitability and recommend 304 or 316L when more corrosion margin is needed.
17-4 PH / 15-5 PH Stainless Steel
17-4 PH and 15-5 PH provide higher strength, wear resistance, dimensional stability, and load capability than common austenitic grades. Heat-treatment condition, machining sequence, thread class, allowance, distortion, hardness, and final inspection are reviewed before quoting.
Duplex Stainless Steel
Duplex suits corrosion, strength, pressure, and marine applications beyond the margin of 304 or 316L. We review stock form, machinability, heat-treatment state, thread geometry, passivation, and records. Pressure-rated threads, sealing grooves, sleeves, and flanges are supported.
Special Stainless Grades
Drawings may specify 310, 321, 410, 420, Nitronic, 718, or another stainless or nickel-based alloy. We review machinability, supply, heat treatment, finish, thread performance, and cost, with certificates, XRF, hardness reports, and traceability available.
Surface Treatments & Finishing
Choose the finish by corrosion resistance, cleanliness, appearance, friction, sealing, and thread fit. Masking, edge condition, finish growth, cleaning, and inspection are confirmed before release.
Passivation for Corrosion Protection
Nitric or citric passivation removes free iron and supports corrosion resistance. We confirm the standard, masking, rinse, drying, certificate, and post-passivation thread fit.
Electropolishing for Smooth, Clean Surfaces
Electropolishing can reduce roughness, improve cleanability, brighten the surface, and support fluid or hygienic applications. We confirm Ra, dimensional allowance, thread masking, edge rounding, cleaning, and post-process inspection.
Bead Blast and Uniform Matte Finish
Bead blasting creates a consistent matte surface for visible parts, equipment covers, instruments, and cosmetic assemblies. Media, pressure, masking, edges, cleanliness, and protected threads are controlled to preserve fit and sealing surfaces.
Precision Deburring and Thread Lead-In Control
Because stainless steel work-hardens, burrs and lead threads need deliberate control. Deburring, chamfering, brushing, or tumbling is selected by geometry, with bore, sealing, thread, and flange areas protected for smooth assembly.
Ultrasonic Cleaning and Clean Packaging
For medical, semiconductor, vacuum, food, and fluid systems, ultrasonic cleaning, particle-conscious handling, protected threads, and sealed bags, trays, tubes, or compartment packs can match your receiving process.
Laser Marking and Traceable Identification
Part numbers, lot codes, orientation marks, logos, and assembly IDs can be marked with controlled depth, contrast, location, and cleanability, without affecting threads, seals, or mating surfaces.
Our DFM confirms treatment, masking, Ra, post-finish thread gauging, cleaning, marking, and protective packaging for each stainless steel bushing program.

Stainless Steel Bushing FAQ
Answers to common questions about design inputs, grade selection, galling prevention, inspection, and lead time.
Send a 2D drawing or STEP file with grade, heat-treatment condition, thread size and class, ID, OD, length, key flange or shoulder dimensions, finish, quantity, and packaging notes. Without a drawing, mating screw or shaft details, host-hole size, environment, assembly method, torque, and annual usage are enough to start.
304 is a common general-purpose choice; 316L suits chloride, chemical, medical, food, marine, and cleanable environments; 303 prioritizes machinability; PH and duplex grades add strength, wear, pressure, or corrosion performance. DFM confirms the best match for the application.
Review the mating alloy, thread fit, engagement, chamfer, surface finish, speed, torque, and lubrication before machining. A dissimilar alloy, controlled clearance, suitable class, or approved lubricant may be recommended, followed by burr control and 100% plug or ring gauging.
Prototypes typically take 5–8 business days after drawing approval and material availability. 316L, PH, duplex, electropolished, or documentation-heavy programs may take 8–15 business days. Volume timing depends on material, cycle time, finishing, inspection, and quantity. Quotes arrive within 24 hours and DFM within 48 hours for most projects.
