Threaded Bushing
Manufacturing
CNCPioneer is an IATF 16949 and AS9100D certified China threaded bushing manufacturer delivering precision CNC machined threaded bushings, threaded flange bushings, aluminum threaded bushings, brass threaded bushings, stainless steel threaded bushings, and fully custom threaded bushing programs for OEM assemblies. We manufacture internal-thread, external-thread, male-female, flanged, shoulder, knurled, press-fit, overmold, and standoff-style bushings with thread pitch diameter control to ±0.005mm, bore-to-thread concentricity to ±0.010mm from Swiss CNC and MAZAK mill-turn single-setup machining, 100% go/no-go thread gauge inspection, flange face perpendicularity control, material traceability, and 48-hour DFM for every custom threaded bushing drawing.
What Is a Threaded
Bushing?
A threaded bushing is a precision-machined sleeve, insert, spacer, reducer, or flange-supported fastening component that provides a controlled internal or external thread in an assembly where the base material, wall thickness, service load, or repeated assembly cycle cannot reliably carry the thread alone. In OEM equipment, a custom threaded bushing may reinforce a plastic housing, convert one thread size to another, create a durable metal fastening point in an aluminum casting, space a rotating shaft, or provide a flanged bearing surface that distributes load across a panel or bracket.
The engineering difference between a commodity threaded insert and a production-grade CNC threaded bushing lies in thread accuracy, bore concentricity, flange geometry, material verification, and installation repeatability. CNCPioneer machines threaded bushings from the same datum whenever the design contains a bore, OD, flange face, internal thread, and external thread in one part. That single-setup approach holds bore-to-thread concentricity to ±0.010mm, controls flange face perpendicularity for clamp-load stability, and allows 100% thread gauge inspection on every internal and external thread before delivery.
-
100% thread gauge per bushing — internal thread, external thread, and mating fit checked Threaded bushings fail in assembly when the internal thread passes inspection but the external thread, flange seating face, or thread-start condition is only sample-checked. CNCPioneer applies go/no-go plug gauges to internal threads, ring gauges to external threads, and post-treatment re-gauging after anodize, nickel, passivation, or zinc-nickel plating, so every threaded bushing installs correctly at the OEM line.
-
Threaded flange bushing DFM — flange OD, seat flatness, shoulder height, and pull-through load confirmed A threaded flange bushing is selected when the assembly needs a positive stop, load spread, anti-pull-through shoulder, or controlled panel seating height. CNCPioneer's 48-hour DFM checks flange thickness, undercut radius, shoulder-to-thread runout, wrenching clearance, and mating-hole chamfer before tooling, preventing flange rocking, incomplete seating, and thread-start damage during installation.
-
Aluminum threaded bushing factory — 6061, 6082, 7075, hard anodize, and thread growth compensation Aluminum threaded bushings reduce mass in aerospace, robotics, EV, and portable equipment, but anodize growth can close thread pitch diameter if the coating is not planned before machining. CNCPioneer pre-compensates Type II and Type III anodize programs, masks critical threads when required, and performs 100% post-anodize gauge verification.
-
Brass threaded bushing factory — C36000, H59/H62, CW617N, C69300 lead-free brass Brass threaded bushings are the preferred choice for electrical grounding, sensor housings, plumbing, pneumatic fittings, and high-volume plastic overmold inserts because brass delivers stable machinability, good corrosion behavior, and strong thread wear performance. CNCPioneer supports nickel, tin, silver, and bare brass programs with SII XRF material verification per lot.
Why CNCPioneer for
Threaded Bushings?
Among threaded bushing manufacturers globally, CNCPioneer's single-setup Swiss CNC and MAZAK mill-turn machining, 100% internal and external thread gauge inspection, aluminum threaded bushing anodize compensation, brass threaded bushing material traceability, flange seat geometry control, and 40–60% China cost advantage make our factory a reliable threaded flange bushing manufacturer and custom threaded bushing supplier for automotive, electronics, robotics, industrial machinery, medical device, aerospace, and energy equipment OEMs.
100% Thread Gauge Inspection — Internal, External, and Post-Treatment Threads
The threaded bushing's function depends on two relationships working at the same time: the bushing must install into its host assembly correctly, and the mating screw, stud, shaft, sensor, or fitting must engage the internal thread correctly. A supplier that gauges only the internal thread can still ship bushings with oversized external threads, plating-closed pitch diameter, burr-damaged lead threads, or flange seating interference. CNCPioneer's standard: internal threads gauged with calibrated plug gauges, external threads gauged with calibrated ring gauges, thread starts visually checked for burrs, and all coated or plated bushings re-gauged after treatment. This is applied per bushing, per production run, without relying on sample inspection for critical thread fit.
Single-Setup Machining for Bore-to-Thread Concentricity ±0.010mm
Threaded bushings used as spacers, reducers, bearing sleeves, sensor holders, and locating inserts fail when the bore, OD, flange face, and thread axis are produced from different setups without a stable datum. Re-chucking can introduce eccentricity that shows up as screw wobble, uneven clamp load, shaft rubbing, sensor misalignment, or thread side loading. CNCPioneer's Swiss CNC guide-bushing turning and MAZAK mill-turn single-setup machining keep the bore, OD, shoulder, flange, internal thread, and external thread referenced to one spindle datum whenever part geometry allows. Production capability: bore-to-thread concentricity ±0.010mm, thread pitch diameter ±0.005mm, flange face perpendicularity 0.010mm/25mm for precision threaded bushing programs.
Threaded Flange Bushing Manufacturing — Seat Flatness, Shoulder Height, and Pull-Through Control
Threaded flange bushings are specified when a simple sleeve cannot control installation depth, load spread, or pull-through resistance. The flange must sit flat against the mating panel, plastic housing, casting boss, or sheet-metal bracket; the under-flange radius must clear the hole chamfer; the shoulder height must match the stack-up; and the thread runout must not interfere with seating. CNCPioneer's threaded flange bushing DFM checks flange OD, flange thickness, seating face flatness, shoulder height, undercut radius, lead-in chamfer, and pull-through bearing area before production. For press-fit and overmold flange bushings, knurl depth and flange underside serration are matched to the host material to prevent spin-out and push-out under torque.
Aluminum Threaded Bushing Factory — Lightweight Design with Anodize Growth DFM
Aluminum threaded bushings in 6061-T6, 6082-T6, 7075-T6, and 2024 are common in robotics, aerospace interiors, EV battery housings, portable devices, optical mounts, and lightweight industrial assemblies. The risk is not machining the thread; the risk is keeping the thread functional after anodize growth. Type II anodize can add 5–15µm total coating thickness, and Type III hard anodize can add 25–50µm. CNCPioneer confirms whether threads are machined oversize for anodize growth, masked before anodize, or re-cut after coating, then performs 100% post-anodize gauge inspection. This prevents the common field issue where aluminum threaded bushings look perfect visually but fail first assembly torque because the coating has closed the pitch diameter.
Brass Threaded Bushing Factory — Stable Machinability for High-Volume Inserts and Electrical Parts
Brass threaded bushings are widely used for plastic molded inserts, electrical grounding posts, sensor housings, pneumatic components, water fittings, instrument standoffs, and durable service threads in softer host materials. CNCPioneer machines C36000 free-machining brass, H59/H62 brass, CW617N/CW614N European brass, and C69300 lead-free brass with SII XRF material confirmation per lot. Swiss CNC bar-feed production supports high-volume brass threaded bushing programs from 50,000 to 5,000,000+ pieces per year, including straight-knurl, diamond-knurl, undercut, flange, closed-end, blind-thread, and through-thread geometries. Nickel, tin, silver, or bare brass finishes are selected by conductivity, corrosion, solderability, and cosmetic requirements.
Custom Threaded Bushing ODM — From Mating Screw, Host Material, and Load Requirement
Many OEM buyers know the mating screw size, the host material, the pull-out requirement, and the assembly stack-up, but do not have a finalized bushing drawing. CNCPioneer's custom threaded bushing ODM service converts those inputs into a production-ready 2D/3D design with thread engagement depth, wall thickness, flange bearing area, knurl type, press-fit allowance, lead-in chamfer, coating allowance, and inspection datum scheme. We support metric, UNC, UNF, UNEF, BSP, NPT, trapezoidal, and customer-specific threads, with 48-hour DFM and prototype machining before tooling-free volume production.

Surface Treatments for
Threaded Bushings
Surface treatment selection for threaded bushings must account for thread pitch diameter growth, flange seat contact, conductivity, corrosion exposure, assembly torque, and visual finish. CNCPioneer plans machining allowance, masking, post-treatment gauge inspection, and documentation before production so coated threaded bushings remain functional after anodize, nickel, passivation, zinc-nickel, or locking patch processes.
Type II and Type III Anodize — Aluminum Thread Growth Compensation
Clear, black, color, and hard anodize for 6061, 6082, 7075, and 2024 aluminum threaded bushings. Type II anodize improves corrosion resistance and appearance; Type III hard anodize improves wear resistance for repeated assembly. Because anodize grows on thread flanks, CNCPioneer confirms whether threads will be pre-compensated, masked, or re-cut after coating. 100% post-anodize plug/ring gauge inspection is mandatory for aluminum threaded bushing factory programs.
Nickel, Tin, and Silver Plating — Brass Threaded Bushing Programs
Bright nickel for corrosion resistance and appearance, tin for solderability and low-contact resistance, and silver for high-conductivity electrical bushings. Brass threaded bushings used in grounding, terminals, sensor bodies, and connectors often need plating that preserves thread function while meeting conductivity or cosmetic requirements. CNCPioneer performs plating thickness control, adhesion checks when specified, and 100% post-plate thread gauge inspection.
ASTM A967 Passivation and Electropolish — Stainless Threaded Bushings
Citric or nitric passivation removes free iron from 303, 304, and 316L threaded bushings after machining and restores stainless corrosion resistance. Electropolish is available for medical, laboratory, food-adjacent, and clean equipment bushings where surface smoothness and cleanability matter. CNCPioneer protects critical threads from dimensional shift when required and performs post-treatment thread gauge inspection before shipment.
Zinc, Zinc-Nickel, Black Oxide, and Phosphate — Steel Threaded Bushings
Zinc plating for economical corrosion protection, zinc-nickel for outdoor automotive and machinery service, black oxide for controlled indoor appearance and low thickness, and phosphate for oil retention or paint adhesion. Nylon Patch, PTFE Seal Patch, and Dry-Film Lubricant
Thread-locking and sealing patches are available for threaded bushings that must resist vibration, prevent loosening, or seal against fluid or dust migration. Nylon patch supports reusable vibration resistance; PTFE seal patch supports sealing on tapered or straight threads depending on design; dry-film lubricant supports controlled torque and anti-galling behavior. CNCPioneer verifies patch location, coverage length, assembly torque, and gauge compatibility before volume production.
Laser Marking, Precision Deburring, Cleaning, and Packaging
OEM threaded bushing programs often require part-number laser marking, lot traceability, clean assembly-ready surfaces, and packaging that protects lead threads from damage. CNCPioneer supports laser-marked logos, date codes, lot codes, and OEM PN; controlled deburring at thread starts and flange edges; ultrasonic cleaning when specified; VCI or compartment packaging; and line-side label formats matched to customer receiving systems.
Surface treatment selection, coating growth allowance, thread masking, post-treatment gauge scope, plating thickness control, color anodize requirements, electrical conductivity requirements, and packaging protection are included in CNCPioneer's 48-hour DFM review for every threaded bushing manufacturer inquiry.
IATF 16949 & AS9100D Quality System for
Threaded Bushings
CNCPioneer's threaded bushing quality system focuses on four manufacturing risks that decide whether the part installs correctly at the OEM line: material identity, thread specification, single-setup geometry, and post-treatment thread fit. The result is stable production for custom threaded bushing programs from prototype to multi-million-piece annual supply.
Material Verification + Thread Specification DFM Before Tooling
SII XRF material verification is applied to aluminum, brass, stainless, and alloy steel incoming lots, with mill certificates archived when required. CNCPioneer's DFM confirms thread standard, pitch, class, internal/external fit, engagement depth, coating allowance, flange seat datum, knurl OD, host material, and installation method before machining. For custom threaded bushing projects, this prevents common drawing gaps such as "M6 thread" without pitch/class, flange thickness without undercut radius, anodize finish without pitch-diameter compensation, or press-fit OD without host-hole tolerance.
- SII XRF per incoming lot for brass, aluminum, stainless, and alloy steel programs
- Thread standard, pitch, class, and engagement depth confirmed before gauge assignment
- Flange, knurl, press-fit, coating, and host-material DFM documented before tooling
Single-Setup Geometry Control for Bore, OD, Flange, and Thread Axis
Swiss CNC guide-bushing machines and MAZAK mill-turn centers are selected according to bushing size, length-to-diameter ratio, and feature complexity. Small brass and aluminum bushings are produced from bar stock with guide-bushing support to reduce deflection; larger flange bushings and multi-feature bushings are produced in mill-turn setups that machine flange, OD, ID, thread, wrench flat, and cross-hole from a controlled datum strategy. Production targets include bore-to-thread concentricity ±0.010mm, OD ±0.010mm where required, flange face perpendicularity 0.010mm/25mm, and stable thread pitch diameter Cpk ≥1.67 for qualified volume programs.

- MAZAK mill-turn single-setup machining for flange, shoulder, ID, OD, and thread datum control
- First-piece CMM or optical inspection for flange, concentricity, and special datum features
100% Thread Gauge Before and After Surface Treatment
Threaded bushings are inspected with calibrated plug gauges for internal threads and ring gauges for external threads. Critical thread-start burrs, incomplete chamfers, plating buildup, anodize growth, and locking patch interference are checked before shipment. CNCPioneer applies post-treatment re-gauging after anodize, nickel, tin, silver, passivation, zinc, zinc-nickel, black oxide, phosphate, and dry-film operations. For press-fit and overmold bushings, OD and knurl dimensions are also checked against the host-hole or mold design to protect pull-out and spin-out performance.
- 100% internal thread plug gauge or external thread ring gauge per threaded bushing
- 100% post-treatment thread gauge after anodize, plating, passivation, or patch application
- Knurl OD, flange seat, lead-in chamfer, and burr-free thread start inspection included

Threaded Bushing FAQ
Common questions from OEM buyers, design engineers, sourcing managers, and production teams about threaded bushing manufacturer selection, threaded flange bushing design, aluminum versus brass material choice, custom threaded bushing DFM, lead time, and volume production economics.
The fastest quote comes from a 2D drawing, STEP file, annual quantity, material, finish, and application notes. If the drawing is not complete, CNCPioneer can still quote from the functional requirements: internal thread size and class, external thread or press-fit OD, bushing length, flange OD and thickness, host material, installation method, assembly torque, pull-out or spin-out requirement, surface treatment, and inspection requirement. For a custom threaded bushing, the most important missing details are usually thread class, coating allowance, flange seat datum, under-flange radius, and host-hole tolerance. CNCPioneer's 48-hour DFM confirms these before production so the bushing installs correctly at the OEM assembly line.
A standard threaded bushing is usually a sleeve or insert with an internal thread, external thread, or both. It reinforces a thread, converts one thread size to another, provides spacing, or creates a durable threaded feature in a softer host material. A threaded flange bushing adds a flange or shoulder that acts as a positive stop and load-spreading surface. The flange controls insertion depth, improves pull-through resistance, supports panel seating, and helps distribute clamp load. A threaded flange bushing is preferred when the host material is thin, plastic, cast aluminum, sheet metal, or any assembly where the bushing must not sink, tilt, or pull through under torque.
Choose an aluminum threaded bushing when weight reduction, galvanic compatibility with aluminum structures, anodized appearance, or lightweight robotic/aerospace/EV design is the main driver. 6061-T6 is the standard economical choice; 7075-T6 is selected for higher strength. The key DFM issue is anodize growth, so thread pitch diameter must be planned before coating. Choose a brass threaded bushing when high-volume insert production, electrical conductivity, grounding, solderability, corrosion resistance in indoor service, or plastic overmold/heat-set performance is more important. C36000 is the high-volume standard; C69300 lead-free brass is used when low-lead compliance is required. CNCPioneer can compare both materials during DFM when load, weight, cost, and finish requirements are still open.
Prototype lead times are typically 3–5 business days for brass or aluminum threaded bushings, 5–7 business days for stainless or plated programs, and 7–12 business days for hardened steel, 17-4PH, titanium, or complex multi-operation bushings. The largest cost drivers are material, thread size, wall thickness, flange complexity, knurling, cross-holes, thread class, tolerance stack, annual volume, surface treatment, and documentation level. High-volume C36000 brass threaded bushings are the most economical when geometry is Swiss-CNC friendly. Aluminum threaded bushings are cost-effective for lightweight assemblies but anodize masking or hard anodize increases cost. Stainless and alloy steel bushings cost more but provide corrosion, strength, or wear performance where brass or aluminum cannot meet the requirement.
