Surface Finishing Options for
Brass Swiss Screw Machined Parts
Brass swiss screw machined parts are frequently finished to enhance corrosion resistance, electrical performance, solderability, or aesthetic appearance. We provide a full range of finishing options through in-house capabilities and verified finishing partners.
Nickel Plating
Excellent corrosion and wear resistance. Widely used for brass connectors, terminals, and valve components requiring durable surface protection.
Tin Plating
Superior solderability for PCB connectors, crimp terminals, and electronic contacts. The most common finish for brass electronic components. RoHS compliant.
Gold Plating
Ultra-low contact resistance for high-reliability brass electrical connectors and precision contacts. Specified for aerospace and mission-critical connector applications.
Electroless Nickel Plating
Uniform coating on complex geometries including internal bores and threaded features. Ideal for brass valve bodies, fittings, and parts requiring consistent coverage.
Chrome Plating & Lacquering
Decorative chrome finish for consumer-facing brass hardware. Lacquering prevents tarnishing for architectural components and decorative fittings.
Passivation & Bead Blasting
Passivation for brass parts in high-purity fluid and gas systems. Bead blasting creates a uniform matte texture for decorative and consumer-facing brass components.
Surface finish requirements often affect part performance as much as machining quality. Our team reviews finishing specifications together with brass alloy selection, tolerance, and geometry at the quoting stage to ensure the best outcome for your application.
From Drawing Review to Finished Brass Parts

Brass Swiss Screw Machined Parts FAQ
Common questions from engineers and buyers about our brass swiss screw machining service.
Brass swiss screw machined parts are precision components produced on Swiss-type automatic screw machines using brass bar stock. The guide bushing supports the material immediately at the cutting zone, enabling tight tolerances, complex features, and high-volume output in a single automated cycle.
Swiss screw machining uses a guide bushing positioned immediately adjacent to the cutting tool, providing workpiece support at the point of cutting rather than only at the chuck. This eliminates deflection on small-diameter brass parts, enables tighter tolerances, better surface finishes, and higher length-to-diameter ratios than conventional CNC turning — all in a single uninterrupted multi-operation cycle.
C3604 (JIS) / C36000 free-cutting brass is the industry standard, rated at machinability index 100 — the highest of any metal. It machines cleanly, produces excellent surface finishes, and is available in precision-ground bar stock across a wide range of diameters. For RoHS or lead-free applications, we recommend C2680. For marine or high-corrosion environments, C46400 naval brass is preferred.
Our standard production tolerance is ±0.01mm. For precision-critical applications such as electrical contacts, medical fittings, or semiconductor connectors, we achieve ±0.005mm with full CMM verification using Mitutoyo equipment. Roundness tolerance of ±0.002mm is achievable on brass parts.
Prototype orders using in-stock C3604 or C3602 brass bar stock are available in 3 days. Standard production volumes typically complete in 2–4 weeks, depending on part complexity, order quantity, and finishing requirements.
Yes. We verify RoHS compliance using our SII XRF analyzer to measure lead, cadmium, and other restricted substances. For electronics applications requiring lead-free brass, we machine C2680 and other compliant alloys and provide full RoHS documentation with each order.
No. CNCPioneer accepts orders from single prototype pieces through to millions of parts annually. Our Swiss screw machine setup is equally optimized for prototype validation runs and long-run production contracts with no minimum order quantity for standard brass materials.
Yes. Our multi-axis Swiss lathes perform turning, threading, cross-drilling, milling, knurling, and grooving simultaneously in a single setup, eliminating re-fixturing errors, improving accuracy, and reducing lead time compared to conventional multi-operation turning.
