What Are Custom
Bronze Bushings?
Custom bronze bushings are plain bearing components made around a specific shaft, housing, load, speed, lubrication method and installation fit. They solve the gap between catalog bushings and real equipment geometry.
A good custom bushing is not only the right size. Alloy, wall thickness, installed clearance, bore finish, groove layout and press-fit behavior all affect service life. CNCPioneer reviews these bearing-critical details before machining.
-
Made to your actual geometry Plain sleeves, flanged bushings, thrust washers, grooved bushings, graphite plugged bushings, stepped bushings and split bushings can be machined without catalog size limits.
-
Alloy selected for the application C93200, C95400, C95500, C86300, C54400, SAE 841 and custom grades are matched to load, speed, lubrication, shaft material, corrosion exposure and cost target.
-
Clearance reviewed before production Press-fit allowance, housing material, wall thickness, shaft diameter, shaft finish and operating temperature are reviewed to reduce seizure, scoring and loose running fit.
-
Quote fast, review carefully Upload a drawing, STEP file, sample dimensions, shaft and housing data, or annual demand. Most projects receive pricing within 24 hours and DFM feedback within 48 hours.
Why CNCPioneer for
Custom Bronze Bushings?
Choose CNCPioneer when your custom bushing needs bearing-level engineering, not just a turned bronze part. We combine DFM, alloy verification, precision machining, reverse engineering and production traceability in one factory.
Custom Bearing DFM Before Machining
We review shaft diameter, housing bore, press-fit allowance, running clearance, wall thickness, load, speed, motion type, lubrication and service environment before production. Missing material, clearance or groove details are flagged early.
Verified Bronze Alloy Per Lot
CNCPioneer verifies incoming bronze by SII XRF when required and archives material certificates for qualified programs. Common grades include C93200 SAE 660, C95400, C95500, C86300, C54400, C51000 and SAE 841.
ID/OD Control for Installed Clearance
A press-fit OD can shrink the bore, and thin walls can distort. We control ID, OD, wall thickness, roundness, concentricity and bore finish with the final assembly condition in mind.
Oil Groove and Graphite Plug Machining
Spiral, straight, annular and figure-eight grooves, grease holes, pockets and graphite plug arrays are machined around the load zone and lubrication method, then checked for burr control and final bore size.
Reverse Engineering Support
For obsolete or worn parts, we can quote from sample measurements, shaft diameter, housing bore, photos and operating notes. We identify likely original geometry and recommend practical alloy or lubrication improvements.
Prototype, Repair and OEM Production
We support urgent repair batches, prototypes, maintenance kits and recurring OEM programs. Repeat-order records preserve drawing revision, alloy, tolerance, groove detail, inspection method, packaging and customer part number.
Custom Bronze Bushings
Product Portfolio
CNCPioneer produces non-standard bronze bushings for OEM, repair and maintenance applications, including plain sleeves, flanged bushings, grooved bushings, graphite plugged bushings, thrust components and split bearing shells.
Plain Bronze Bushings
Non-standard ID, OD, length, wall thickness, chamfer and clearance for shafts, pins, rollers, pumps, gearboxes, hinges and industrial machinery. C93200 SAE 660 is common for general oil-lubricated service.
Flanged Bronze Bushings
Flanged bushings combine radial bearing support with an axial thrust face. CNCPioneer controls flange OD, thickness, flatness, bore-to-flange perpendicularity, under-flange radius and oil transitions.
Oil Groove Bronze Bushings
Spiral, annular, straight and figure-eight grooves help distribute oil or grease across rotating, oscillating and sliding surfaces. Groove depth, width, entry radius and hole alignment are inspected.
Graphite Plugged Bronze Bushings
Graphite plugged bushings support slow-speed, high-load, dirty or limited-maintenance applications. Plug spacing, interference, flushness and final bore sizing are controlled after plugging.
Thrust Bushings and Wear Plates
Bronze thrust bushings, washers, bearing plates and wear pads support axial loads in gearboxes, hinges, pivots, presses and slides. Flatness, oil grooves, graphite plugs and mounting holes are machined to drawing.
Split Bronze Bushings
Split bushings, half shells and large bearing sleeves are used when the shaft is difficult to remove or the bearing must be assembled around a journal. Matched halves, split lines, dowels, bolt holes and oil grooves are supported.

Materials
Materials for Custom
Bronze Bushings
Material selection is matched to load, speed, lubrication, shaft hardness, corrosion exposure, shock load, service interval and cost target.
C93200 SAE 660 Bearing Bronze
The common choice for general oil-lubricated bushings. It balances strength, conformability, embeddability, corrosion resistance and machinability for moderate load and speed applications.
C95400 / C95500 Aluminum Bronze
Selected for higher load, better strength and improved corrosion resistance. Common in heavy equipment, hydraulic pivots, marine machinery and high-load shafts.
C86300 Manganese Bronze
Used for slow-speed, high-load and shock-load pivots. It requires proper shaft hardness, lubrication and clearance planning to perform well.
C54400 / C51000 Phosphor Bronze
Used for thin-wall bushings, wear sleeves, spring-contact sleeves and precision components where fatigue resistance and burr control matter.
SAE 841 Oil-Impregnated Bronze
Recommended for low-maintenance, light-to-medium load applications. The porous bronze stores lubricant and releases it during operation.
Graphite Plugged C95400 / C86300 Bronze
A high-strength bronze base with solid lubricant plugs for dirty, intermittent or hard-to-grease applications. Plug pattern and bore sizing are reviewed together.
Finishing, Lubrication
& Packaging Options
Custom bronze bushings usually depend more on bearing surface finish, lubrication geometry, deburring and clean packaging than decorative coating.
Precision Bore Finish + Oil Groove Machining
Bores are finished to drawing requirement, commonly Ra 0.4–0.8µm for oil-lubricated sleeves. Groove geometry is matched to rotation, oscillation, load direction and lubricant feed.
Graphite Plugging
Plug holes are machined, filled and checked for flushness and retention. The bore is sized after plugging so the finished bearing surface remains controlled.
Oil Impregnation
SAE 841 porous bronze stores and releases lubricant during use. Sizing, cleaning and packaging protect the porous oil path from blockage.
Selective Coating Options
Nickel, tin, dry-film lubricant and anti-tarnish protection are available when specified. Coating location is reviewed so the bearing bore, groove and press-fit OD remain functional.
Deburring and Chamfering
Oil grooves, grease holes, flange edges, split lines and bore chamfers are deburred without rounding away designed bearing surface, groove volume or press-fit edges.
Cleaning and Packaging
Parts are cleaned, protected and packed for shipment or line-side storage. Options include protective oil, VCI bags, bore protection, matched-set labeling and bar-coded packaging.
Bore finish, groove geometry, graphite plug pattern, coating, deburring, cleaning and packaging are reviewed during the 48-hour DFM process.

Custom Bronze Bushings FAQ
Quick answers for buyers, engineers and maintenance teams comparing custom bronze bushing suppliers.
A 2D drawing or STEP file is best. If no drawing is available, send shaft diameter, housing bore, bushing length, flange dimensions, load, speed, motion type, lubrication method, environment and annual quantity. For replacement parts, photos and worn-sample measurements are helpful.
Yes. We can reverse-engineer from worn samples, but shaft and housing measurements are recommended because the old bushing may have enlarged bores, distorted grooves or worn flange faces. A drawing can be prepared for approval before machining.
C93200 SAE 660 is common for general oil-lubricated service. C95400/C95500 suits higher load and marine exposure. C86300 supports slow-speed shock-load pivots. C54400/C51000 fits thin-wall and wear applications. SAE 841 is used for low-maintenance self-lubricating sleeves.
Simple prototype or urgent replacement bushings often take 3–7 business days after confirmation. Flanged, grooved or larger bushings commonly take 5–10 business days. Graphite plugged, heavy-duty, split or special-inspection programs may take 10–20 business days.
